You've hit the nail right on the head. I've noticed this on television shows, also. At the time, I thought that it was funny, the writers not knowing what is was really like in a real high school basketball game. It's this, as well as ESPN's "And One" games, that will eventually lead us to more "play by play" announcers for high school games. It's only going to get worse, if nobody does anything about it.
