It doesn't have anything to do with "comprehending that all people/families are not alike".

It has everything to with admonishing a child for daring to express an innocent holiday greeting that is obviously part of her belief and value system.

Admonishing anyone for expressing a holiday greeting for the holiday of their choice is knee-jerk political correctness at it's worst- be it Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or Festivus.

If someone is truly hurt or offended by a kid writing the words "Merry Christmas", then it sounds like they have a problem comprehending that "everyone is not alike".
