You're right that there is a closey guarded count while a player is holding the ball and a defender is guarding within 6 feet (in the frontcourt), but you're wrong on the definition of an interrupted dribble. Look up the definition of an interrupted dribble under rule 4 (and if you don't have it, I'll post it later).
