Those big shoulder pads can be a pain. Back a few years ago when I bought a Wilson WV Paltinum, I had the same complaint. Those huge pads make me feel like Frankenstein (Franken-Ump?).They were so big that my shirts were stretched to the max going over them and it actually felt like it was hard to raise my arms over my head. It's just to darn much bulk for a fairly non-critical area that's being covered.

Solution: I removed the pads. Fortunately, that's easy to do on a Platinum because all the pads and plastic plates are held in with velcro straps. What a difference! This went from feeling like I was packed in a box to being totally comfortable. My shirts feel loose, my range of movement is back and I love this chest protector!

The pad I removed really doesn't compromise any protection. The collar bone and shoulder joint itself are still covered. All I lost was some padding that really only protected the top of my triceps and biceps. The hard plastic shell the pad attached to is still there and this isn't a spot where you get hit much anyway.
