Good question and good thinking!

As was stated earlier in the thread, it would not matter if the left foot crossed into the FC or not. Once they establish the foot that is in the FC (in this case the right foot) as their pivot then the player has FC position. They could simply lift the left foot and return it to the floor in the BC and it would still be a violation.
