I remember stealing second once in high school when the ball beat me my two or three strides (let's just say I doubt that I stole more than 5 bases my entire HS career). F4 simply caught the ball and put his glove down waiting for me to slide and I just slowed down as I approached and stepped on the bag.
Ump: Safe
F4: Doesn't he have to slide?
Ump: He avoided the tag.
Of course, it wasn't a game winning run and I didn't pop up short from a slide and hurdle F4.
