Indeed I did.
I was a "three season" coach back when I was coaching, and when I first started, they made us do so for EACH season. (Of course, maybe that was just for ME.) Later, when I was on the BOD we backed it off to an "annual" recert.
Don't remember the exact details, but IIRC, there are two "levels" of background check - kind of a "first level" and then an "in depth". We did "first level" for everyone, then if anything "unusual" showed up, we would go to the "in depth".
During my tenure, there was only one person who applied to coach who was denied a coaching position as a result of the check. I understand he is currently enjoying the amenities of one of our state's fine Correctional Facilities resulting from an event that occurred OUTSIDE the auspices of and completely unrelated to our programs.
Frightening and appalling. I fully endorse "background check programs" for youth sports associations, though we never required fingerprints.
