Unfortunately, it was the girls team from my local HS. The Tigard girls lost their 6A quarterfinal playoff game to Oregon City 66-36 snapping a 19 game win streak. They got outscored in the third quarter 25-0! That was kind of strange because they outscored Oregon City in two of the other three quarters. The Oregon City girls hit 13 threes (out of 25 attempts) in the game including seven of them in that third quarter! The Tigers played a 2-3 zone for almost the entire game and the Pioneers just shot over it.
Congrats to Oregon City, who has now advanced to the state semifinals for the 4th year in a row and their 21st time overall. They are ranked 3rd in the state and have had one of the top girl's programs in the nation over the past 20 years or so.
The reporter who wrote the story for the Portland newspaper has this advice for their next opponent - "Don't play zone".
