There are, unfortunately, coaches at the fourth to sixth grade levels who fancy themselves as big-time strategists and try to emulate the big mouths of the NCAA or NBA. They consider themselves brilliant for yelling at officials because "it's about the next call" and similar nonsense.

I have no doubt that there are grade-school coaches out there who would tell the wrong kid to go to the line to get a better shooter.

Moreover, if the shooter wasn't near the play that was whistled, the coach has the sporting obligation, in a grade school game especially, to get the right shooter on the line.

It may be a correctable error, but it is not necessarily so.
