Great night
With all of the threads here about coaches antics, player issues, and the like, I thought I'd post about my games last night.
Boys B-squad (10th grade)/JV Doubleheader.
First game:
We go almost 4 minutes without a whistle, and we only have 5 fouls called in the first half. Visitors are leading by nearly 15 points at one point, but the home team finally starts making some open 3-point shots and comes storming back, only to lose by 2 points. The only comment I heard from either coach other the "time out" was after a no-call on a blocked shot:
Coach: "Why wasn't there a foul on that play?"
Me: "Coach, the defender hit the ball clean, and didn't make contact with your player at all."
Coach: "I disagree"
Me: "Fair enough, coach"
Second game:
Pregame conference with V coach:
My Partner: "Do you have any questions?"
Coach: "Nope, and you won't hear a peep out of me all game."
Me: "Coach, that's what they all say"
Coach: "I mean it."
Sure enough, he (and the H coach) didn't say anything to either of us for the entire game.
The game started, we went 3.5 minutes without a whistle, and 6 total fouls called in the first half. Another barn-burner of a game, this time ending with the Home team winning by 3.
I wish they could all be like that.
