10U double header. . .R1 on 3B, R2 on 2B. . .BR walks. . .Before she walks down to 1B, she tosses the bat down the third base line. R1 leaves 3B and walks down the line, picks up the bat, starts to walk the bat to the 3B coach. . .Pitcher runs right at R1 and applys the tag. . .
Heres the conversation:
COACH: "Why did you call her out."
ME: "Because she is"
COACH "Thats a crap call, this is an instructional league, you cant make those calls on these kids, they are just moving up to this level."
ME: "She was OFF the bag coach, she should never have been there."
What you should have said: Then why haven't you instructed your players on baserunning rules?
COACH: "She was only trying to help and clear the bat and shouldnt there be a time out on the walk"
ME: "No coach, and again she was off the bag and the ball is live. What would you like me to call her"
Game 2: he is complaining I didnt call an Infield fly and was a little ticked off. . .I looked at him and said. . "Coach, I know were you in the same ground rules meeting. . .there is NO IFR and NO D3K and never has been in 10U". . . to which he mumbled something else I couldnt hear
