I say-"take a look at Rulebook 9-9-2(Exception 1) and casebook play 9.9.1SitB(b)".I also say- "Coach be right". It's a legal play if both feet were off the floor when A caught the throw-in.

Were you thinking of the play where A1 catches the ball with one foot already on the floor in the front court,and then the other foot comes down in the back court? That is a violation(casebook play 9.9.1SitA).
