Smile Check out rule 7-3-2b.

The QB cannot hand the ball forward to the center.

However, see rule 7-3-2a: The center can turn around and face his own goal line, and the QB can then hand the ball forward to the center if the center is at least one yard behind the line.

The key points to remember are:

1. The center must completely release the ball in order for the snap to be legal. He cannot leave his hands on the ball, touch the QB's hands, and then take the ball and run with it.

2. The center must turn and face his own goal and be at least 1 yard behind his line before the QB hands him the ball forward.

3. Or the QB can place the ball on the ground and the center can pick it up and run but only if the referee is notified prior to the play.
