Recently a friend was the narrator for a singing Christmas program which was in middle of a 5 night run. She was concerned that she was not doing a good job because no one had complimented her. I told her that her job in this program was not unlike mine as an official. Basically, the crowd only notices you when you screw up. Therefore, the ultimate compliment to an official is to hear: How was the calling last night? Okay, I guess, I really didn't notice.
