I got home just in time to see the Phillies add to their 2-0 lead, so I didn't get much of a chance to watch Gerry Davis. The consensus on the baseball board, which has been ripping the umpires all throughout the postseason, is that he did a great job.
That being said, I have to admit that as much as I like Davis (I use his system), I wondered about three of his calls in the 8th: (1) a strike on an outside pitch to Utley before he struck out, (2) a 2-0 ball on Werth that looked better than some of the pitches he had called strikes, and (3) a strike call (I think on Howard) on a fastball that looked low.
But if he did miss those, they weren't horrible misses.
