If F6 simply guides it to the ground without ever catching it, then it's not an IDB. The RS is quite clear in that aspect.
In order for this call to be made, the ball must be
caught first. It must be held securely in either the glove or hand, and its release must be voluntary. I don't know how the rule can be any clearer.
