Guys,
I made some home-made game cards yesterday and I figured I'd share how to do it. These cards are more for varsity since they have foul-reporting on them. For sub-varsity I just use the plastic re-usable one everyone has. Here are the steps to make them:
1) Download the file I have to this post below (the game cards I made in word).
Game Card
2) Buy a pack of 3" x 5" BLANK (no lines) index cards.
3) Take the regular paper out of your printer and put the index cards in the far right corner of your printer. There should be some kind of bar/handle that sets the edge of the paper you're using. Slide that all the way over so it hugs the left edge of your index cards and push the front bar/handle up so it's snug against the bottom side of the index cards (closest to you).
4) Open the word document and go to File -> Print. Where is says "Pages," type in the number 1 (we are only printing one side of the card now - the home side). In the "Number of Copies" box, type in how many index cards you put in your printer, then click Print. I did about 25 since the season is half over (I'm going to distribute them to my crew).
5) Once the index cards have been printed, straighten them out so they are all facing the same direction, then re-insert them into the printer FACE UP AND TOP UP. You should be able to see text on the cards as you slide them into your printer. The top side that says "Home" should be the first end into the printer (so if you're looking at it, you should be able to read the card as it's sitting in your printer tray - assuming you don't have a top-loader printer where you stick the paper in up top. In that case, it's probably the opposite).
6) Repeat step 4, only instead of printing page 1, print only page 2.
Then, that's it! Simple! I made the directions more complicated than they need to be for the computer-illiterate, so once you do it, it's a breeze.
The whole process costs you about 44 cents for all 100 game cards.
