Not sure what you meant by your partner would've waved you off...
Whether eye contact is made or not, you can always provide info to partners & most importantly, let them change their call if they choose to do so.

In my pre-game I make it known that I will not come to you unless I am 110% sure. So we don't have to waste time with the "are you sures."
