I say wait and let him decide the replacement. In OBR, once the player goes on defense or takes his place in the batter's box(or on base), he becomes an unannounced sub. So, he takes the place of the EJ player once he goes on defense or offense.

If there are multiple subs and the HC doesn't tell where any of them go, then PU puts them in himself and HC has to like it. Then, they will learn to decide it themselves or take the consequences. It is no different than a double switch and the HC doesn't tell the PU about it beforehand. In general, I will not do this b/c it is less of a hassle to get the new order from the HC.

I wonder if it is any different in the other codes.
