I was working the plate on a game. Two strikes on the batter. t was a dropped third strike. The batter was tagged out for the final out. End of inning. My partner then comes to me and asks how come I did not rule her out automatically? I answered "because the ball hit the ground...dropped third strike rule." He looked at me with a puzzled face and then stated, "No, dropped third strike is when the catcher DROPS the third strike, not when it hits the ground. If she catches it, she didn't drop it. So it's not a dropped third strike."
My head hurt for a while after I heard that one.
Anyone have funny, weird, interesting, crazy, bad or other situations that you have had happen with a partner? I have a few more I'll share soon...

I saw the same thing at a tournament two years ago. The ump said he was at the state ASA tourney and they told them that was the way to treat it. I went and got the page in the rule book and gave it to him. Sometimes we have to go back to school.
