Apparently, the members of the women's committee have exactly the opposite opinion. Not only are they NOT trying to differentiate themselves from the pros, but they are intentionally adapting more and more pro interpretations and mechanics. Watch out for away-from-the-play fouls next year??

I do not think it is so much about egos. Almost all the NCAA Women's Rule's committee people or the Officials that know them are all WNBA Officials. Of course the WNBA is affiliated with the NBA, so they have adopted all the NBA mechanics and a few rules. So after an NCAA Women's season, you see the same officials working the WNBA Regular Season. Obviously not the case with the NCAA Men's side, they could not do that if they wanted to. Just look at the new Women's Mechanic after a foul. Calling official goes table side, just like the NBA.
