I think what you did was reasonable. A player/coach certainly can't claim that they were unaware of the time remaining at the buzzer (which they could if they weren't looking at the clock). (BTW, how long was the shot clock period?)

It was not my game. This was a game following my game. I would have handled it that way, but I have never (thank God) been put in that situation. Just wanted to see what others would do.

I also left before I found out what they ultimately happen with the shot clock. I did stay to see it was out for sevaral minutes, but I had a clinic to help run the next morning and left.
