There are also quite a few very good baseball umpires that also work softball. I know several baseball umpires who have worked multiple state championships that also umpire softball in the fall.
I don't see any correlation between how good you are in baseball and whether or not you do softball. If you're bad, you're bad. If you're good, you're good.
