Its my experience that the absolute WORST place to discuss a rules related scenario is with a instructor at a clinic. The atmosphere is wrong, message lost in translation, and its inevitably screwed up. You will always do better here and with self study than posing the question at a clinic where the instructor takes about 2 seconds then shoots from the hip.
