Duke won 76-69. Game wasn’t that close, but Duke went to the line a lot and shot poorly (four St Johns players fouled out).
Knightisms:
Players commit too many unnecessary fouls bailing shooters out of bad shots. Just stupid.
Travel called – and Mr. Knight says….refs are doing a much better job of calling these now as they had been letting them go for many yrs. (Is it something I said?)
During a real awkward skirmish for a loose ball on the floor, he made a reference that no foul in basketball is as game changing as a personal foul in football – 15 yards is demoralizing.
He told a classic Howard Cosell/Madison Square Garden story.
All in all, a tame game and a non-controversial Bob Knight with not much to say about the refs......tonight.
