Please consult 4-19-6 on page 51 and 6-7-7 on pages 82 and 83 of the 2007-08 NFHS Simplified & Illustrated book.
The accompanying pictures have the defender facing away from the offensive player. The defender is said to have "legal position on the court" and the ruling is a player control foul.
LGP has nothing to do with it. Both you and the author of the RM article are failing to grasp that.
