Here is an example of a potential offensive kicking violation that happened in a game I worked last night. We didn't call this, but in hindsight I think it probably should have been. It comes down to the definition of "striking", which is what the rule prohibits.
Here's the situation. Team has the ball and is passing it around the perimeter. Player from team A doesn't catch the pass cleanly and deflects the ball away. It is rolling on the forward toward the sideline and headed out of bounds, with the girl that should have caught the pass in pursuit. She realizes she is not going to be able to pick the ball up before it goes out of bounds, so she executes a perfect soccer move and steps on top of the ball stopping it dead on the floor a few inches short of the sideline, where she picks the ball up, passes back to the point guard and they reset the offense.
