Listen to what the "vets" are trying to tell
you and filter out what doesn't pertain.
Try to find a mentor who will take you under their wing.
I teach recruits year round in San Diego.
There is so so much to learn. Here's a few things:
Think of players and coaches as customers.
Give them an honest effort.
Always try to get the best angle by moving.
Protect the shooter.
Don't guess.
Don't call what you can't explain.
Blow a loud whistle and signal sharply.
Be on top of the action when the game is on the line.
Be confident not cocky.
Have fun and enjoy the experience.
Good luck,
Barry Alman
