OK,

As with many things in MLB this rule is only enforced IF there is a complaint by one of the two teams. It is much like when F3 has a foot in foul ground at the start of the play. If there is a complaint the umpires enforce the rule, to the letter, for both teams.

In the Braves game a few nights ago there was a complaint lodged about the pitcher's glove being two-toned (actually the glove had WHITE piping on it) and the PU made the pitcher change.

Showmanship by the visting team . . . sure but that is MLB.

Ask the M's Arthur Rhoades what he thinks of Omar Visquel.
