Regarding taking a timeout to replace the replacement for the DQ player I say yes as long as the substitute has reported before the warning horn for the TO.

Mick, I understand where informing the player first is advantageous but it is not "by the book". Officials Manual 231 h. The calling official shall notify the coach and then the player on a DQ and will administer substitutions.
