A good fielding play would be rewarded in the fielders favor and a poorly fielded play in the runners favor. Umpires don't see "ties" and then decide which ruling to choose from or base a call on how well or poorly a fielder played a ball. Umpires see a sequence of events and then rule on what happened first. THERE ARE NO TIES.
