Got a new argument Thursday night. There was an overthrow at 2B from CF. The ball was heading for the entrance to the 1B dugout. F3 made a dash for the rolling ball and executed a perfect slide, kicking the ball toward the catcher.
Manager comes out of the dugout and wants me to award bases because F3 prevented the ball from going out of play by intentionally kicking it. I told him the only way a runner is moved up when the defense kicks the ball is if it goes out of play, not stay in.
He didn't like my answer, so he went to my partner. He told him the ball wouldn't have entered DBT, so no bases.
Gotta love some of the stuff these guys try.
