My first media mention! (yes, its a doozy!)

Town Newspaper:

---------------------

Sub headline: "Good pitching by F1 and F1 and Controversial Run lift Team A over Team B".

2nd paragraph:

"Team A got five solid innings from F1, a pair of clutch two-out hits in the fourth inning, and a controversial run as Team A knocked off Team B 4-3 on Sunday..."

7th paragraph:

"The controversial run was scored in the 2nd inning [...] setting up runners on 1st and 3rd.

A1 flew out to RF, which scored R3 and advanced R1 to second after an errant throw. However, Team B appealed that R1 left early, and the base umpire ruled R1 out, ending the inning. The run was ruled to have counted, but Team B protested the call saying the run should not have counted because R1 was forced out.

However, official scorers and the home plate umpire (yours truly) ruled that the run had scored because the run had scored before R1 was ruled out, allowing the run to stand.

"We left it up to the umpires," Team A coach said. "This home plate umpire, we have some experience with him. He was certain and he had an explanation."

-------------------

Well, I'm not sure about all the supposed controversy, and it would have been nice had the article been a more positive in the fact that the call was right, but I guess I'll go to bed tonight knowing that I made the right call and the whole world, if they have enough knowledge, will know that too.

Of course, I'm sure there are some people who think that "home plate umpire" is a dingbat, but screw 'em.
