It wasn't the DDB signal. I'm familiar with that from FP and I'd be on here praising the umpire if he actually used the DDB signal as he called IP.

The best I can describe it is that it looked like he was turning some sort of knob.

Although I did realize something today, on a taken pitch, if I don't see the hammer or hear "strike" it's probably a ball, regardless of what gesture is used.
