The field was in that condition at the start of the game, right? If you knew you had no hope of calling fair/foul based on no line and 1B not being in the right place, why did you even go out and act like you were going to call it? You knew from the get-go you had no shot, didn't you?

Besides, you trying to line it up just got in your partner's way, didn't it?
