1st pitch a single...R1 stays on 2nd. Now you have R1 on 2B & R 2 on 1st.
2nd pitch...High fly towards short stop...IFR so BR Out. R2 passes R1 (2nd Out). Fly ball hits R1 (3rd out).
Have heard this same scenario as "how do you get 3 outs on 1 batted ball and no one on defenses touches ball?"..of course there isn't a pitch limit!
Guess if this isn't the right answer you have another umpire riddle!
