Yes.

By rule(specifically rule 4-15-4), the dribble ends when the player gathers the ball. At that time, the player has to either pass or shoot while following the traveling restrictions laid out in rule 4-44. You determine whether it's a pass by applying rule 4-31, and you determine if it's a try by using 4-41-2.

You haveta know all of the rules cited above to call the play correctly.
