Question Rule 4-41-3. NFHS

Rule 4-41-3. The try starts when the player begins the motion which habitually precedes the release of the ball.

On a drive to the basket, is the start of the try when the dribbler picks up the ball and takes the customary steps to the basket?

Are the step and a half, or the two steps the motion, which habitually precedes the release of the ball?

Happy Memorial Day!
