who knows? The NBA refs take so long and are so cool and non-chalant in their reporting that I don't even pay attention anymore.
This isn't a knock against the refs or their abilities, it's a knock against what is apparently the preferred style the powers-that-be want the NBA officials to display. I've noticed it in all the refs during the play-offs (I don't watch the regular season).
