6.05h from OBR says a batter is out when:

after hitting or bunting a fair ball, his bat hits the ball a second time in fair territory.....if the batter runner drops his bat and the ball rolls against his bat in fair territory and, in the umpire's judgement, there was no intention to interfere with the course of the ball, the ball is alive and in play.


I've seen the following situation called an out at least twice this year:

BR bunts the ball fairly, drops the bat while taking off for first base , and the bat hits the ball in fair territory. Dead ball. BR out.

Assuming the umpire does not believe the BR intentionally dropped his bat on the ball, the above would tell me its a live ball, correct?

If I'm correct, what does the first part of the rule deal with?
