From the officiating.com article: "The committee reviewed data from the Georgia High School Association, which experimented with the free-throw lane change last year. "At the same time, defensive rebounding percentages fell within an acceptable range. This data was the most compelling the committee had seen to date."

I guess you can just keep doing studies until you find one that makes everybody happy?
