I'm not awarding half the distance. The "happy medium" comment was not meant to be taken literally.
I'm awarding my best judgment on what I believe the runner would have reached had there been no OBS. It's a HTBT, I guess, but I figure that it'd be hard to justify to the OC to keep her on 2B. It'd be equally hard to justify to the DC that she should be awarded home. Awarding one base due to OBS is easily justified. Award two (and score a run), and you'd better feel pretty certain that the runner would have scored had there been no OBS.
In my judgment, if I feel that she would have definitely reached home, then that's what I'd award. I'd also expect a long "chat" with the Defensive Coach who, hopefully, hasn't flipped their lid.
