Does the plate ump take the ball up to and including the bag, or up to the cut-out, or up to the start of the running lane? I have always taken the ball up to and including the bag, but recently have had a partner get on me for taking a play he says should have been his(tag on a runner half way up the line). I told him we should have covered it in our pre-game a little better.

Thanks,

Fly ball: Whoever the fielder is facing takes the call.

Grounder / tag: Before the running lane, PU; past the running lane, BU.
