Agreed - but I do the same with ads in a book too. How 'bout this - instead of dropping the ads in the middle of a PDF file (or something similar) - make them banner ads. Then you can't skip over them - you can ignore them, but you're still gonna see them.

I'm no marketing genius (or anything that closely resembles one), but I think the advertisers issue is a lame excuse. The fact is that they probably enjoy the money they get from selling the books too much to put them online for free.
