Yup, don't need no stinking NBA program out there in the Magical Land Of College And Beyond. Three years in Cali and you're at
least a D1 official.....automatic.
Of course when you do become a D1 official, all of the first year officials will then tell you how bad you are. As near as I can tell, the average shelf life of all D1 officials in Cali is about 3 games anyway before they're replaced by one of those up-and-comers.
