OK, it was "only" the NAIA DII championship, but it's a championship nonetheless. The Owls defeated top-seeded Bellevue, Nebraska in the title game 63-56.
Before the game, Oregon Tech senior Ryan Fiegi was selected NAIA DII player of the year and was also the most outstanding player of the tournament. He's a 6'7" forward and scored 112 points in their five victories despite dislocating his knee in the first half of their first game! He also played with a sprained ankle and an injured thumb. Let's see Diebler top that!
This was the second title in the past five years for this team and the second time Coach Danny Miles was named coach of the year for this division in that same time period.
Oregon Tech is located in Klamath Falls in downstate Oregon. I spent a week there one night.
