Hanging on the Rim

Doing mostly MS/JV and Rec Ball, I don't really have to worry about this yet, but am curious......

As I watch the NCAA tourney I see a good many dunks and players "grasp the basket/rim" for what seems like an awful long time, some even pull themselves up, etc. Normally there is no call.

I understand NFHS and the exception "to prevent injury" mentioned in the rule book and case book, but these situations are clearly not the case.

Are NCAA rules different? Is this a call "you just don't see" too much? What is your criteria to decide a T for "grasping the basket/rim" in HS? How often do you call it? Ever call one and wish you hadn't? Call it and then T up a coach for arguing it? Just curious, thanks.
