The explanation on Fed's site is wrong - at least not as clear as it should be. You are correct when you say that the ROLE of both the DP and DEFO is never terminated.
The ASA DP/DEFO is identical to the NCAA's version. The NCAA book has a table in it showing a lot of what may & may not be done with the DP & DEFO. I got permission from the NCAA last year to copy & use their table in explaining the rule. If anyone wants a copy - I think several of the regulars already have it - drop me an email & I'll send it. Joel, do you think this would be a good addition to your site's comments on it?
