It's better than talking too much. I did a couple of games recently with a guy who feels the need to explain every call to the players. So, here I am at the endline waiting to administer a throw-in to go the other way while the other official is at half court explaining his call. 90% of the explanations are unsolicited.
At the end of the games I felt like I had been at a clinic! Yuck, let's just do our job.
