KY - Miss St.

Late in the game and after a replay, the announcer (I don't remember who it was) says "That replay just shows how the officials blew that one". Here is what happened: KY player puts up a short jump shot from the right side of the key. Miss St. defender in the center of the key jumps and contacts the rim. The facts: the ball is not touching the basket, the ball is no where near the cylinder, and it appears the rim contact does not snap the rim back so it prevents the ball from going in the basket. The official's judgment: It was not excessive or emphatic. No BI or technical called. Coach Gillespie was not happy and let the official know it. One of the officials jogged by and gave him a quick explanation so I know that, although the player clearly contacted the ring, their call was no BI (absolutely correct) and no T (IMO, absolutely correct) and that the officials clearly know that rule and didn't miss anything at all. Once again, if only the announcers knew the rules.
